The file extension WRI commonly associated with Microsoft Write documents. Microsoft Write is a free  and simple word processing tool which was bundled with Microsoft Windows 1.0, Windows 2.0, and the Windows 3.x series.

Throughout its lifespan it has been minimally updated, and is comparable to early versions of MacWrite. Early versions of Write only worked with file extension WRI files, but with the modernization of Microsoft Word for Windows in 1989, and the introduction of Windows 3.0 the following year, Write became capable of reading and write early Word (file extension doc) documents.

Microsoft Write is similar to the modern WordPad, which was introduced in Windows 95, and like WordPad, Write was more advanced than Notepad and was considered a modern word processor. However, Write did not have the many features of software such as Microsoft Word. Write has some features that WordPad lacks, notably justification of text.

I’m not a computer expert kind of person. I’m just an average computer user. If I need some info about computers or software, I will usually find it on the Internet and rarely fail to get what info that I need.

So, one day I get a file with the file extension THB. I have no idea what is this file and how to open it. I surf the net to do some research about it but there are not much detailed information available. File extension CWK is described as a data file for Claris Works, an application suite that was acquired by Apple in 1998 and rebranded the suite as AppleWorks, which also used the file extension CWK.

ClarisWorks is an integrated suite of office application which was developed for use on the Mac and Windows platforms. ClarisWorks used the file extension CWK, which could denote a document produced using any of these components. CWK files may contain anything from a word processed document or spreadsheet to a database or graphical image data.
